Who could ever forget this name? Maurice Papon, French Nazi collaborator, Second-highest official in France’s south-west Bordeaux region during the German wartime occupation,

convicted of sending French Jews to Nazi camps in World War II and jailed for 10 years in 1998 died at the age of 96.He was freed in 2002 because of his age.
“He died a free man.”said his lawyer Francis Vuillemin, but “that was not the case for all those he sent to their deaths.” said Benjamin Abtan, president of the French association of Jewish students.
“During World War II, about 76,000 Jews were deported from France to German death camps, many to Auschwitz. Only 2,500 survived.” Reported the BBC
